Dr. Sandhya Bansal
Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Illinois, Urbana ChampaignChemical and Life Sciences Laboratory, Department of ChemistrySandhya earned a Masters in Biomedical Sciences from University of Delhi and Bachelors in Biochemistry from Kurukshetra University, India. She completed her PhD from Dr. B.R Ambedkar center for Biomedical Research, University of Delhi and her research project was "Studying selective mechanism of inhibition of E. coli and Mammalian DNA Topoisomerases by benzimidazoles in developing new antibacterials". She worked as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Gurgaon, India, where her research focused on identification of bile acid amphiphiles as anticancer and antibacterial agents. Currently she works as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Chemical and Life Sciences Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. Her interests of study are resistance mechanisms in infectious diseases and advancement of alternative therapies to overcome resistance.

Education
Ph.D (Biomedical Sciences): University of Delhi, 2012.
M.Sc. (Biomedical Sciences): University of Delhi, 2005.
B.Sc. (BioChemistry): Kurukshetra University, 2003.
Research interests
My research interest is to look into the molecular mechanisms underlying different disease in response to molecules administered externally. How improved molecules can be used in clinics to cure some common diseases and bacterial infections. I am much more interested in studying the patients with resistant drug profiles and how the existing combinations of drugs can be can be improved to be clinically effective in patients.
