Summary

I am a Postdoctoral Fellow since June, 2014 at Technion, Haifa, supported in part at the Technion by a fellowship from the Lady Davis Foundation and by a fellowship of the Israel Council for Higher Education. I am working on heat shock proteins (Hsps) which are used to express under stress condition in Cyanobacteria. I am undergoing a training regarding Molecular Biology and Biochemistry related hands-on and X-Ray Diffraction. I am interested to explore protein science which deals with structure-activity relationship targeting small molecule - macromolecule interactions involving both in vivo and in vitro studies.

Misfolding of proteins into toxic aggregates known as amyloid fibrils, are associated with several neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and Prion diseases. Studies have shown distinct similarities between the fibrillar systems studied in vivo and in vitro for a number of proteins. This has led to research on amyloidogenesis based on in vitro analysis of model systems. I was involved in exploring different aspects of fibrillation during the course of Ph.D considering Hen Egg White Lysozyme (HEWL) as the model template.
